In the tabling of Budget 2023, Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Aziz stated that the government will set a nominal rate of just RM10 for transfer of properties “based on love”. This includes transfers between spouses, parents and children, as well as grandparents and grandchildren.
The consideration stated in the Memorandum of Transfer (MOT) or Deed of Assignment will be ‘love and affection’.
Stamp duty exemption for a transfer of property between family members in 2022 and 2023 by way of love and affection as follows:
